Mississippi Governor's Mansion

Jackson, Mississippi



     Built in 1839-42 the Mississippi Governor's Mansion has the distinction of being designated as a National Historic Landmark  During the Civil War, the Mansion was occupied by Federal troops and used as a hospital. The Greek Revival Mansion was designed by architect William Nichols (1780-1853), a native of England.
